■ General Principle
Holders of student visas (D-2) or language training visas (D-4) are generally prohibited from part-time work, as their primary purpose is education. However, they may obtain permission for “activities outside of visa status” if certain conditions are met.

■ Working Hour Restrictions
During Academic Semesters:
○ Maximum: 25 hours per week (Monday–Friday).
○ Workplaces: Up to two locations allowed.
Public Holidays, Weekends, and Vacation Periods:
○ No restrictions on working hours or locations.

■ Eligibility Criteria for Part-Time Employment
To qualify, students must meet the following:

Visa Type:
○ D-2 (student visa) or D-4 (language training visa).
○ D-4 Visa Holders: Eligible only after six months of residence in Korea.

Academic & Language Requirements:
○ Sufficient Korean language proficiency.
○ Good academic performance and attendance.
○ Students with a GPA below “C” in the previous semester are not eligible.

Residency:
○ Must reside in Korea at the time of application.

Verification:
○ Obtain signatures and approval from the university’s international student advisor.

■ Application Process
Prepare Employment Documents:
○ Employment Contract: Draft a standard employment contract with the employer.
○ Business Registration Certificate: Obtain a copy from the employer.

Complete the Application Form:
○ Fill in details such as working hours, wages, and workplace.
○ Ensure all employer information matches across documents.

Submit to University:
○ Submit documents to the international office for review and signatures.

Submit to Immigration Office:
○ Apply either in person or online (appointment required for in-person submissions).
○ Once approved, students can begin part-time work immediately.

○ Passport, alien registration card, and application form.

■ Penalties for Violations
○ Working Without Permission
Definition: Considered illegal employment.
Penalties:
○ Up to 3 years of imprisonment or a fine of 30 million KRW.
○ 1st Offense: Fine + 1-year employment ban.
○ 2nd Offense: Deportation.
○ Violation of Conditions
1st Offense: 1-year employment ban.
2nd Offense: Permanent employment ban.
3rd Offense: Visa revocation.

■ Additional Working Hours for Certified Universities
Students enrolled in universities accredited under the International Education Quality Assurance System (IEQAS) may be eligible for additional working hours beyond the standard limits.
